Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in Lok Sabha on July 2. Notably, this address will come after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi delivered a fiery speech in the Parliament on July 1, where the Congress leader criticised the government over issues like NEET and the Agniveer scheme. During his address, PM Modi is expected to respond to these critiques and outline the government's stance and accomplishments in these areas.

Rahul Gandhi's speech included sharp criticisms of the current administration's policies, particularly focusing on the impacts of NEET on students and the Agniveer scheme. The atmosphere in the Lok Sabha was notably tense, reflecting the high stakes of the ongoing parliamentary session.

At 9:30 am, PM Modi will speak at the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) parliamentary party meeting before his speech in the parliament. Notably, this will be his first speech to the members of the ruling bloc's parliament after gaining his third term in office.

What did Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi say?

Rahul Gandhi delivered a powerful speech in the Lok Sabha, focusing on several key issues including the NEET exam and the Agniveer scheme. Rahul Gandhi also brought attention to the issues faced by students and the youth, questioning the efficacy of the government's education and employment policies. His speech was seen as a direct and fiery attack, setting the stage for a robust debate in the Lok Sabha, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to respond later in the session.

As Rahul Gandhi made remarks about the BJP and Hindu community, there was a huge uproar from the treasury benches.

Gandhi said, "There has been a systematic and full-scale assault on the idea of India, the Constitution and on the people who resisted the attack on the Constitution. Many of us were personally attacked. Some of the leaders are still in jail. Anyone who resisted the idea of concentration of power and wealth, aggression on poor and Dalits and minorities was crushed. ..I was attacked by the order of Govt of India, by the order of the Prime Minister of India...The most enjoyable part of it was the 55 hours of interrogation by ED...."

"Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions...All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," he added.

Rahul Gandhi used a picture of Lord Shiva to highlight his message of eradicating fear. Speaker Om Birla stated that it is improper for the Congressman to show and then take down an image of a venerated deity in the House, as doing so is against the rules.

Responding to this, Union Minister Amit Shah targeted Rahul Gandhi saying that connecting religion to express his voice is wrong.
